Personal Development

Supporting your young person in their personal development

Running Deer’s Mentoring service is tailored to suit individual needs and supports your young person in their personal development including improved self-esteem, confidence and communication, social and emotional wellbeing.

The mentoring service is aimed at young people 13 years and over who are interested in activities outside of our woodland setting. Running Deer’s mentoring service is charged by the hour, based on a six hour day.

Wulf, our therapy dog, in schools

“Wulf didn’t do anything amazing but it feels like he is doing something amazing” Liam age 10.

Not only is the physical interaction hugely beneficial, especially for those with emotional, behavioural or sensory issues, but a therapy dog provides the focus for attention and Wulf has already participated in art, literacy, numeracy and geography lessons.

We have had great success with Wulf working with young people in schools.  We are able to attend class for up to two hours per session, including meeting and greeting your young person on arrival at school.  This service is ideal for primary school aged children. Wulf remains with his handler at all times, on a lead.
