Running Deer CIC
Running Deer CIC is a Devon based not for profit Community Interest Company established in 2011 out of an identified need to provide opportunities for children, young people and adults including those at risk of exclusion; and local people & communities living in rural isolation without easy access to education, employment or training.
We provide access to learning outside the classroom, training, volunteering, life skills opportunities and work experience in traditional and rural skills, bushcraft and survival skills, animal assisted interventions, woodland and land conservation and related activities.
Running Deer CIC also operates Running Deer School for children with special educational needs.
Running Deer School a DfE registered independent school, registration number: 878/6067 Further information can be found on our school website: www.runningdeerschool.org.uk
It is recognised that everyone benefits from having access to nature and physical activity. MIND’s Ecotherapy report 2007 revealed that a greener, more active lifestyle aids positive changes to our mental health. This is where our focus lies, and why our projects and our school are based in our own 16 acre woodland, Butterdon Wood, on the edge of beautiful Dartmoor in the heart of Devon.
Our ethos is to:
- Be ethical in everything we do.
- Be user led and transparent at all times.
- Promote inclusiveness and support social enterprise.
- Make a positive difference to people’s lives.
- Provide opportunities with a difference!
- Campaign on behalf of the environment at a local level.
We are a not for profit Community Interest Company Limited by Guarantee no: 7605814. Running Deer CIC is run by a voluntary Board of Volunteer Directors who have a wealth of knowledge and experience between them.
