Day Respite in Devon
Running Deer’s Day Respite service offers parents the opportunity to have a break, confident in the knowledge that their children will be having a great time at Running Deer, participating in outdoor activities in a safe environment with experienced staff.
Our Respite service is for parents of children and young people with additional needs, siblings, and mainstream children.
Our sessions can include woodland games, fire lighting, den building, green woodworking, camp arts and crafts, animal tracking and other bushcraft activities as the day allows. Children will also be able to meet and spend time with our therapy horses. Suitable for eight years of age and upwards.
Children and young people will need to wear outdoor clothes suitable for the time of year, and must wear long trousers (no shorts, skirts, 3/4 shorts). Please ensure your child brings a packed lunch and plenty to drink and change of clothes, in a rucksack.
Our respite service operates during half terms and school holidays throughout the year except at Christmas time.
We charge under the following price plan (10am to 3pm):
- £45 a session for a child or young person who may need some personal care or support at points in the day.
- £60 a session for a child or young person who may need some 1:1 support at points throughout the day, but not for the whole day.
- £70 a session for a child or young person who will require 1:1 support at all times during the day.
If a sibling wishes to attend at the same time the cost for the sibling is £20 a session.
