When I think about and reflect upon my first week at Running Deer, so many words come to mind. Strength, laughter, comfort, intelligence, friendship, confidence, ability, resilience and respect, to name only a few.
My first week at Running Deer
Our staff team building exercises at the start of the week were the best that I have ever been a part of. It was fun and educational and it has been an absolute pleasure getting to know the amazing team at Running Deer.
My (many) questions are always welcomed with enthusiasm and are answered with clarity and passion. Each member of the team has so many individual and diverse abilities and strengths and it has been wonderful to listen, learn and share.
It was wonderful to meet the awesome young people who attend Running Deer school and I have already learnt so much from the students who I have been lucky enough to work with.
Meeting the horses, who the students often work with, was an incredible experience and one which I felt honoured to be a part of. It was evident how supportive it can be to spend time with them and how the horses can have a significant beneficial impact on moods on emotions.
To change from spending my working week indoors in my previous job, to being introduced to the wilderness of Running Deer was a more than a welcome difference.
The magic of nature is truly wondrous for its ability to heal, to calm and to assist with communication, learning and creativity. I have returned home every day muddy, wet and exhausted, with a huge smile on my face.
I am learning so many new things every day and I only wish that I had discovered Running Deer sooner.
It’s a world full of innovation, freedom and inclusion. It’s a world in which everyone belongs, and I am so enamoured to be a part of it.
