Intervention Services in Devon
Running Deer provides Intervention Services in Devon for young people at risk of exclusion, giving them the support they need, when they need it most.
We have the experience and expertise to provide an individually tailored programme for young people aged 8 years and upwards. Our high support programmes are designed to stimulate and challenge the young person, furthering their personal development and learning.
There are two packages available, depending on the needs of the young person and the desired outcomes for the school.
Our Referrals Pathway programme is structured around the needs of the child/young person, and the desired outcomes of the professionals and schools. It is tailored to suit the individual needs of your young person and will support them to improve their self-esteem, confidence and communication, social and emotional wellbeing.
Activities can include bushcraft, equine assisted therapy, nature therapy and rural skills including green woodworking which is very popular with young people.
All of these activities can be linked in to the National Curriculum in subjects such as Maths, English, Science, Geography, Technology and Physical Education.
Running Deer’s Intervention service is tailored to suit individual needs and supports your young person in their personal development including improved self-esteem, confidence and communication, social and emotional wellbeing.
This programme offers more options for the young person and includes activities outside of our woodland setting, for example KS2-KS4 tutoring, swimming, climbing, moorland walking, leisure cycling, community engagement, horse riding and work experience.
The Intervention service is aimed at young people 13 years and over although younger children may also benefit from this programme.
The minimum period a young person would be expected to be with us is half a term. We are are able to accommodate young people for as long as necessary. We can also take cases at short notice. Running Deer can support a young person 1 to 5 days per week for as long as necessary.
Please note: Due to Covid-19 our intervention programme is temporarily on hold.
