Referrals Pathway

Therapeutic Learning

Therapeutic learning placements for young people facing exclusion.

Running Deer’s Referrals Pathway offers therapeutic support for young people facing a variety of issues.

Working closely with professionals and schools we can provide an individually tailored programme for young people ages 8 years and upwards that may be part of a reduced timetable, or to support them whilst they transition into a new school. All our activities take place in an outdoor environment in our own woodland, Butterdon Wood, near Moretonhampstead, Devon.

Our approach

Our Referral Pathway activities are structured around the needs of the child/young person, and the desired outcomes of the professionals and schools. Activities can include bushcraft, equine assisted therapy, nature therapy and rural skills including green woodworking which is very popular with young people. All of these activities can be linked in to the National Curriculum in subjects such as Maths, English, Science, Geography, Design and Technology and Physical Education.

The minimum period a young person would be expected to be with us is half a term. We are are able to accommodate young people for as long as necessary. We can also take cases at short notice.  Running Deer’s Referral Pathway is able to accommodate young people for as many days per week as necessary.

  • Day times: 0930hrs to 1500hrs
