You will be working with other outstanding people throughout our network, helping to shape the futures of the children at Running Deer School and those attending our Intervention programme.
Running Deer CIC is a charitable organisation based in Dartmoor national park, which supports adults and children with learning and mental health difficulties, disabilities, and those not in education, employment or training.
We provide access to education, training, volunteering, life skills opportunities, and work experience through a variety of outdoors-oriented projects.
Running Deer School provides small, specialist, high-support education provision for local education authorities. Firmly grounded in outdoor education and rural skills, and with a strong focus on core academic achievement, we work with children and young people between 8 and 16 with a range of special educational needs.
We also operate an Intervention Programme for children and young people at risk of being excluded from other provision.

SEN teachers are responsible for delivering a bespoke individualised academic timetable for our students covering a range of subjects KS2-KS4 including core subjects – Maths, English and Science, ASDAN awards, Gateway Qualifications, and project based learning.
You will be working with students in a 1:1 or very small group environment to enable our students to reach their full potential, whilst supporting their special needs.
Teaching Assistant | Case Worker
Our Teaching Assistant | Case Workers make up the core team of Running Deer School and our Intervention Programme at Running Deer CIC.
Working alongside other Teaching Assistant | Case Workers, Project Workers and our Teachers, you will engage directly with our users and deliver high quality learning opportunities and therapeutic activities.
The majority of the day will be spent working one-to-one or two-to-one with a user in both outdoor and classroom settings.

Running Deer CIC is a Devon based enterprise set up to support local people including those at risk of exclusion. We provide activities and opportunities based around traditional rural skills, bushcraft, equine assisted learning, dog therapy, green woodworking and conservation.
Running Deer School is a DfE registered independent school (registration number: 878/6067) for young people with Special Educational Needs.
